M Hotel Da Nang Review | Luxury, Minimalism & Green Design in Vietnam

Da Nang’s skyline has been changing fast over the past few years, but few new additions stand out quite like the M Hotel. I’ve been wanting to film and write about this place for ages. I watched it go up over several years, and since opening in 2023, it’s become a true landmark along My Khe Beach, especially in the An Thuong neighborhood, an area that’s really come back to life post-COVID.

The M Hotel is a design-forward, luxury property with genuine personality on the waterfront. From its angular, almost brutalist-inspired architecture softened by cascading greenery, to its thoughtful interior design, it’s clear this place was built to stand out. The building itself is hard to miss: 28 stories of modern, geometric lines along with over 5,000 square meters of vertical gardens. This green covering is an aesthetic that also helps cool the building naturally and reduces reliance on air conditioning, which is a welcome move in Da Nang’s humid coastal climate.

Walking into the lobby, the vibe is immediately sleek and contemporary. There's a lobby bar tucked behind the main check-in, and the staff greet you with that friendly, polished hospitality that’s becoming a hallmark of Vietnam’s better hotels.

One thing I love about M Hotel is that the rooms are anything but cookie-cutter. Each one is slightly different in layout and size, ranging from ~30 square meters for standard rooms to over 100 for the top-end suites. I stayed in the Ocean Breeze Deluxe. Even on a rainy day, the view was spectacular looking out over My Khe Beach and toward the Son Tra Peninsula. The design motif here is angles. Nothing is squared off. The walls have a raw, concrete finish paired with warm wood accents, giving it a cool, modern-industrial vibe without feeling cold.

The bed itself is angled perfectly toward the ocean. Linens are high quality, though the mattress might not be the absolute softest I’ve ever slept on. But for the price point, it’s spot-on. There's an open-closet concept, minimally-stocked minibar, and thoughtful touches like branded toiletries and big, walk-in showers with privacy shades that can be lowered while still letting you catch glimpses of the sea.

And those elevators? Genuinely impressive. Oversized, modern and a bit dramatic, just fun to ride in and never feeling too cramped with large amounts of people in them. Although, with only three of them servicing the entire tower, sometimes the wait can feel a little too long.

One of the most unique design elements is the series of "smoking patios" on each floor. These aren't dingy little balconies, but lush, green-covered spaces that offer a bit of privacy and nature. It's part of the hotel's environmental strategy, but it also breaks up the tower's silhouette and adds texture. Standing there at night, looking out over the neon glow of An Thuong or the dark expanse of the South China Sea, you feel both in the city and apart from it; a little pocket of calm.

The M Hotel has multiple bars: one in the lobby, one facing the beach, and another on the rooftop. That top bar is especially impressive. The rooftop has not just one but two pools: one facing north for sunsets and city views (including Da Nang's famous Dragon Bridge in the distance), and one facing east for sunrise over the ocean. On clear days, you can see all the way down the beach toward the Hyatt, Sheraton, and Marriott resorts, and up to Son Tra Mountain. Even on the day I visited with brooding rain clouds, it was spectacular.

The breakfast buffet was another highlight. Tons of fresh juices, Vietnamese and Western options, all well-presented. It's the sort of breakfast that makes you want to linger and take your time.

Location-wise, the M is hard to beat. It’s right on My Khe Beach, across the road from those tiki-style beach bars, and walking distance to the An Thuong neighborhood’s nightlife, cafes, and restaurants. On a Friday night in July, the energy here is amazing; lively but not overwhelming. From here, you’re a short ride to the Dragon Bridge, Han River waterfront, and Da Nang’s downtown. Behind the hotel, there's a new entertainment, shopping, and dining complex going up that will make staying here even more convenient once finished.

I really enjoyed my stay. Is it the cheapest hotel in Da Nang? No. But it’s also not the most expensive. For what you get: unique design, strong service, incredible views, and a fantastic location, it hits that perfect middle ground.

It feels like Da Nang evolving: stylish, modern, environmentally conscious without losing the local flavor.

If you’re looking for something that’s not just a bed for the night but an experience that enriches your time in this amazing city, the M Hotel is a strong contender.

Highly recommended.
